Doctor Who Empty
PostSubject: Doctor Who   Doctor Who EmptyMon Oct 08, 2012 11:05 pm

The Doctor was enjoying the birth of a new star when his pocket began to grow mildly hotter. He jumped with a small gasp and reached inside to find his pocket book of psychic paper. He couldn't help but read the message aloud to himself and the star beating before him.

"Doctor... Help Hadley Blackwood. Glasgow, Scotland. 2005. Ogron Mercanery."

The odd man scratched his head, his blue eyes shining brightly as he mulled this over in his mind.

"Why is this so important?"

He allowed his voice to trail off as he took one last look at the new star before returning inside the TARDIS and locking its door behind him. The panels beeped at him as he approached, blinking lights and the familiar hum of the heart ringing through his ears.

The knobs and dials before him were moved to set the date and place to travel. When he was finished inserting the information, he quickly placed the pocket book back into his jacket pocket and began to move around the control board of his ship, trying to keep up with how fast everything needed to be dealt with. Moving knobs up there, and sliding panels there. Pressing a button this many times and using his foot to raise a handle.

After a few short moments, his ship came landing into a field somewhere next to an abandoned old home, trees strewn about the acre. He pursed his lips together, knitted his eyebrows in thought.

"So where is this Hadley at, then, eh?"

Hadley didn't know what they were, but knew they were frightening. Big, ugly, grey things coming after her with guns. Guns unlike any she had every seen before, which was odd mainly due to the fact that she had grown up in military bases and was constantly surrounded by weaponry. She ran down the road and toward the bridge, knowing if she could just make it across the water that she might stand a chance of escaping them. Unfortunately she was hardly faster than they were and could never get ahead enough to lose them.

"Why are they after me?" She took a deep breath, trying to ignore the startled screams and gasps as others on the street took the sight of these creatures in.

When she reached the start of the bridge she forced herself to run faster, making her legs scream in protest and agony. She was a fast runner but had never run this far without stopping before. It had been two miles since they began to follow her from her home. Two miles that she had been running after they expressed their need to destroy her. What had she done to cause these...creatures...to come after her?

"I can't keep this running up forever. They're going to catch me."

Crossing the bridge took longer than she had expected, and when she finally reached the other side of it she was beat. She could feel her legs wanting to give out beneath her. Her vision was blurry and she just wanted to sit down. They were going to catch her because she knew there was no way she could run any longer.

There was a bridge just up ahead that the doctor could just barely make out, and he could have sworn he heard fast footsteps coming in that direction. He shrugged his shoulders, certain that there was a reason for the TARDIS bringing him to this exact location. He began at a slight jog, but when he noticed a group of Ogrons chasing a young woman across the bridge, his pace grew just a bit faster.

He was several yards away from the girl when he saw her collapse onto the ground, clearly exhausted from fleeing the predators chasing her down. He gritted his teeth, determined to get to this girl before the Ogrons did.

When the mercenaries were about a yard from her, the doctor stopped in front of her, pulling her up to him. She looked up at him, eyes foggy and unfocused. His voice rang out then, cheery and uplifting.

"Hello there! I'm the Doctor. And you must be Hadley."

He looked back at the Ogrons, knowing they were about to be caught.

"What did you do?"

There was an abrupt silence through the air, and he looked up to see that the Ogrons had stopped running, just inches in front of them. Their guns were over their chests, faces in stiff lines, void of emotion.

"Hello! Um... Might I ask what you want with this girl?" He looked down at her again, "Do you know what they want with you girl?"

Hadley looked up at the man whose arms she was now in and smiled to herself. He had these ears, these magnificent ears, and they made her want to giggle. She knew that part of her amusement was due, in fact, to the fact that she was absolutely exhausted. She had to refrain from reaching out and grabbing one. She took a deep breath, snapping back to the reality that was before them. These creatures wanted to kill her, somehow this strange man knew her name, and they were both about to be killed.

"I didn't do anything." She managed to force out. "They just started to follow me when I left my house, stating that they had to come here to destroy me."

She clung to the leather jacket the man wore, waiting for the ugly creatures to shoot them where they stood. This man seemed so calm and all she wanted to do was cry in defeat. She had moved here to start over and attend college, to make a better life for herself, but was going to have that all stolen from her in mere moments.

The doctor looked down at the blonde, quickly trying to assess the situation.

"You mean to tell me these Ogrons are chasing you for no reason whatsoever? You just walked outside and they said they were going to kill you, no explanation, just chasing?"

He looked from Hadley to the small group of Ogrons, desperately needing to grasp the reality of it all. He used his weaker hand to scratch at his head some more like before on his ship, eyes glowing in the night.

"Well I would say this is rather a problem. If I don't know what happened, I can't stop them from killing you."

He set her on the ground, behind him and out of harm's way.

"You there, Ogron... Mercenary... Things! Tell me what is going on!"

What he was assuming was the leader stepped forward, explaining what they had been ordered to do and why. When they were finished, the doctor backed away slowly, drumming his fingers on his chin, arms crossed.

"Well now, that is all very interesting. She's going to get in the way of something happening in the future that needs to happen for this race you're working for to flourish... Hm... Well now, I certainly can't let that happen."

The man turned and looked down at the girl, brows tight, lips pursed.

"We can't allow this to happen, girl. I'm afraid you'll have to come with me."

He looked back at the group that was now following after him.

"Follow me to my ship, I'll help you, I just need to run some tests and make sure this is really the girl you are looking for. I just ran into a Chameleon the other day, and I could have sworn he was a good friend of mine. It seems to be happening a lot recently. Come, come."

He dragged the girl to her feet, giving her a grimace in the process, and escorted her to the TARDIS. Once in front, he made sure he had a nice tight grip on her arm as he pulled the key out of his pocket, unlocked the door. The Ogrons were still behind him, going along with his plan.

"Right, it will be just a moment lads. We'll be right out."

He shoved Hadley inside and made sure the door shut tightly behind him. When the girl looked back at him, clearly enraged and defeated, he simply beamed at her.

"And now we run!"

Hadley's eyes widened in shock and confusion for a few reasons. One being that he had pulled her into a Police Box that was bigger on the inside then it was on the outside. Not just that, but the appearance of the inside of the box was very...alien. She shook her head at the thought. What did she think these "Ogrons" were? She ran her hands up and down her cold arms. He was saving her from them all along. She had truly thought he'd led them kill her.

"What do you mean, run?" She looked around the "TARDIS" and shook her head in shock. "It's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside."

She walked up closer to the man, a little weary about getting too close. He was attractive, in that odd kind of way, which momentarily brought a small smirk to the corner of her lips. She realized she didn't know his name, as he had not introduced himself, but had somehow known her name.

"How did you know my name back there?" She asked. "Who are you?"

The man rushed passed the questioning woman, not avoiding her concerns, just realizing that their safety was more important than answering all of them at the moment. He flipped some switches, pressed a few more buttons and then slammed a screen with his fist before starting back up the TARDIS.

"Well, we run by teleporting anywhere in the universe this baby goes. Yes, she is bigger on the inside, and that's because she is a spaceship. TARDIS: Time and relative dimension in space. She's a time a machine." He whacked a few more things and then returned his attention to Hadley, taking out his piece of psychic paper and showing it to her as she approached him. "I got a message from someone, tell me to come save you. This time, this place, and that Ogron mercenaries were after you. And me? Well..." He grabbed a sledge hammer and smashed something on the control panel. "I'm the doctor!" He smiled at Hadley, his grin reaching his ears and causing them to turn a light shade of red.

Hadley's eyebrows raised. She couldn't believe her ears. This thing was a time machine. They were going to travel through time to escape alien mercenaries that were going to kill her because someone on another planet wanted her killed for something she was going to do in the future. This was just her luck. Move from home to be happier and find yourself with a guy traveling through time. He called himself The Doctor.

"You're a doctor?" She raised her eyebrows. "A time traveling doctor?"

He didn't give her his actual name, but she wasn't going to push it. All of this was just far too confusing for her. Where were they going? Why were they going there? She took a deep breath, shook her head, and looked around the TARDIS once more. It was actually kind of beautiful. Almost as beautiful as his smile. She shook her head. She was obviously still delirious.

"So, I must have hit my head walking out of my house today and am now having a really odd dream due to way too much coffee consumption." She sighed and shook her head. "That sounds stupid even to me."

Am I going to be stuck here on this TARDIS? Will we get stuck in another time? Am I ever going to be able to go home again? Do I even care...?

He turned his attention back to the control panel, kneeing the bottom of it stiffly.

"Ow! Ow.. Ugh."

The doctor furrowed his brow at his knee and realized just how idiotic it was to knee the thing. He looked back at Hadley, trying to distract himself from the throbbing that had overtaken his knee cap. Their eyes met, and he felt a heat rise into his face a bit. He cleared his throat, looking away and taking a couple steps back.

"Well I'm not a doctor, I am the doctor. I'm a Timelord. An Alien. I have two hearts!"

He smiled from ear to ear once more, hoping to get a smile out of her as well.

"We can go anywhere you'd like. Really."

Hadley couldn't help but return the smile the Doctor shot at her. He was really pleasant. Odd, but pleasant. She walked a bit closer, her smile finally reaching her eyes. She needed to just calm down. She knew that things were going to change, really change, and she needed to just hope this Doctor would keep her safe like he had back there before they ran into his TARDIS for safety. She took a deep breath.

"Anywhere?" She bit down on her bottom lip.

She could go anywhere. Any time, too, obviously. Her mind drew a blank. She had never thought about it before. She had wanted to see things long before her time, sure, but now that she had the chance she couldn't think of anything.

"I don't know..." She whispered, her cheeks turning pink in embarrassment.

He only smiled at her response, she was clearly in shock. He began to laugh softly at her, wanting to pinch her now pinked cheeks.

"Well aren't you just the cutest little thing when you're flustered."

He brought his hand to his nose and scratched it. His attention was brought to a little screen on the side of the control panel, a small blip coming into focus.

"Uh-oh. That's not the best news I've seen. Uhm..."

He turned around abruptly, hands reaching his head. He wasn't entirely sure what do.

"The Ogrons have found us. We need to find a place to go, and fast."

Hadley knew that she had to help the Doctor find a place for them to run to. The last thing she wanted was for them to find her and kill her like they had set out to do. No, she'd have to find a way to save them. She racked her brain long and hard. No matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't come up with anything.

"Let's go into the past." That's all she could think of right away. "Somewhere far away from Scotland. Anywhere. Somewhere beautiful."

She didn't like the little blip on the screen he was looking at. It was getting closer and was making her head beat wildly in her chest. She realized that her shirt was revealing a bit of her cleavage and attempted to pull in up, embarrassed once more.

This is all just way too much.

"The past you say? Well, at least you've given us a time frame..."

The doctor quickly paced the area between the control panel and one of the TARDIS' decorative posts, several beats passing before he finally stopped with an idea.

"AHA! I've got it!"

Back to the panel he darted, shifting gears, smashing buttons and clicking flipping more switches. He punched in the year 1999, destination was New York. The TARDIS rumbled in response, causing them to shift their stances drastically. The doctor held onto the sides of the control panel for dear life. Hadley seemed to follow suit.

She looked over in his direction and he returned her look with a large smile, his ears once again changing colour.

"Hang on tight!"

Hadley didn't know why, but he just seemed like someone she'd known for a very long time. This, of course, was impossible. He made her feel safe and comfortable, which was probably stupid, but she couldn't help but feel calm around him. She may like this little adventure they found themselves on. She may be glad that by some chance these alien creatures after her had brought her and this two hearted alien man together. Maybe this was the change she had failed to find before.

"Where to?" She shouted at him over the noise of the TARDIS, holding on so she wouldn't get thrown over onto the ground.

She was excited, wherever it was, and couldn't wait to see what wait for her outside of those doors. Hopefully is was somewhere exciting. She lived for excitement and hadn't had any in such a long time.

The question simply made him smile back at her. He didn't want to ruin the surprise, he was sure she was going to love it. All of the bright lights, the crowd of people crowding Times Square for the concerts and countdowns for the New Year. There were butterflies in his stomach as they got closer to their destination. He continued to grin at her.

After a few more minutes of rumbling around the TARDIS, they finally landed next to a large dumpster in an alley nearby all the excitement. As they settled on the ground, it was very clear that there was music playing outside of the ship. When she looked at him in awe, he bounced his eyebrows at her.

"Let's go take a look!"

Hadley could hear the loud music outside the TARDIS and smiled to herself. It was familiar. It meant they were in the past but not too far in the past. She looked up at him, waiting for him to lead the way out of there. She was impatient and so excited to see what was waiting for her. Was it a concert? Had he taken her to a concert? Out of all the places in the world to take her. Maybe he figured she'd enjoy that sort of thing.

She walked toward the doors, anxious and nervous to see what was on the other side. She pulled the door open and saw down an alleyway something she had seen on TV many times. It was Time Square in New York. From the looks of it he had brought her there for a big New Years celebration.

"New Years Eve?" She turned around and beamed at him after they had walked out of the TARDIS. "What year is this?"

She couldn't believe it. This was going to be amazing. She had always wanted to watch the ball fall in the United States.

The doctor loyally followed behind Hadley, beaming at the fact that he had obviously brought her to a sufficient place. The sound coming from outside was a great one. It wasn't very familiar, but he still rather enjoyed it. He almost giggled, but refrained from doing so. It had been a very long time since he'd been to New York for New Years Eve. The last time he was here, they didn't have this music in the least.

"This is the year 1999. According to history, this is the year of 'Y2K', when technology was supposed to stop working. It's going to take all that I have not to laugh in their faces tonight. HA!"

He closed the door behind them, made sure it latched shut tightly. He walked with her down the alley and rounded the corner to the crowd of people. Pretty soon it would be time for the countdown. His favourite part of the occasion.

"This is going to be so exciting!"

He clapped his hands together and rubbed them, wiggling his eyebrows more at her.

Hadley giggled at the wiggling of his eyebrows. It was a cute by awkwardly funny gesture. She reached out and linked her arm in his, not wanting to get separated from him in the large crowd before them. She was excited. Of all years to pick he picked this one. It was spectacular. She got to ring in not just a new year but a new century. She had done this once before, yes, but not here in the big city of New York.

"How long until the countdown?" She smiled widely at him, her face beaming with every bit of excitement that was boiling up inside her. "This is so amazing!"

She pulled him through the crowd, leading the way towards the ball. She wanted to be close enough to get a really great look at it. She was going to get there if it was the last thing she did. She would never get the chance to do this again, she figured, so she wanted to make sure she made the very best of the experience.

"Thank you so much, Doctor." She smiled. "This is the most amazing thing anyone has ever done for me."

"Well I doubt anyone you've met before has been a Timelord. And if you have, I'd like to meet them. I was under the impression that I was alone in the universe. Ha."

He looked down at their linked arms, grinning happily. He was already having so much fun.

"Oh and, we have about two minutes until the countdown, I should say." He looked around to confirm his suspicion. "Yes about two minutes."

He grinned at her again, rubbing her hand with his fiercely.

"Is it just me, or is it rather cold out here? I should have brought some gloves or something."

He looked to the side at her, wondering if she was cold herself.

Hadley was freezing. She was only wearing a short sleeve v-neck shirt and a pair of tight black pants. At least she had boots on, which had not been the easiest thing to run in earlier that day. She didn't want to take his jacket, though. There was no way she was going to let him give it up. She never did like when men gave up their jackets. It only made her feel bad that she made them far more colder because of her own cold issues.

"Yeah, it is pretty cold out here." She admitted it, deciding she would put her foot down if he offered his jacket. "Far colder here than back home."

She resisted moving in closer to him which seemed to be her body's immediate reaction when the cold hit her. In all of the bodies you think it would be warmer, but it really wasn't.

"Worth it though." She grinned, so happy to be there.

The doctor looked closely at her. She didn't seem the type to take his jacket if he offered it. So, he decided not to offer. Instead, he simply took it off without a word and shoved it around her shoulders, bringing her tightly into his arms so she wouldn't have a say in it.

"There we go! Nice and toasty."

He grinned down at her, arching his neck to look around her head at her expression. Just as he had expected, she seemed upset. And frankly, he didn't care. There was a couple standing next to them and they exchanged a look, which seemed to be a sort of amusement. The male in the relationship nodded at the doctor and the woman giggled. Frazzled, he looked away and back at the ball on top of the building.

"It's really been a long time since I've been here. I can't even properly recall the date. I jump around time so often, I can hardly keep track of it at all!"

He rested his chin on top of Hadley's head, observing the festivities around them.

Hadley went to complain about the Doctor's actions. Leave it to a man to just do what you don't want them to do and leave you with absolutely no way around it. She was about to say something when he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her in close. She could feel her heartbeat pick up and was glad that it was dark outside because she knew her face was the most red it had been since they met. The couple next to them seemed to be amused by the odd showing of affection from these two people from the UK.

When he rested his head on top of her own, she could feel her palms start to sweat. She hadn't had a boyfriend, or much male attention, since before her father had died. It had been three years since then, so that meant about four since she'd given a guy the time of day. Now, here was one very close to her and he didn't seem to realize exactly what he was doing.

"I've never been to a big celebration of any kind like this." She sigh. "I've never even gone out for New Year's before."

It was sad, she knew, but she would never have to say those words again. She finally got to have the New Years she had always wanted.

The countdown was moments away and she felt her body grow warm and her heartbeat start to pound throughout her body. This was going to be the most amazing thing she had ever seen!

The doctor hummed in reply, knowing very well what she meant. He didn't usually do things like this either. He tended to stay with the saving worlds and different species rather than celebrating a new year. He hardly ever remembered what year it was, so it was hard to celebrate new ones.

"Well, I'm pleased that I could do this for you, my lady." He bonked the side of her head with his cheek as he said this, further giving the illusion that they were on a couple's outing.

"Oh, goody! It's about to start!"

The hosts of the evening announced the dropping of the ball and it was just moments later that the crowd was shouting out the numbers for the countdown. When they reached the final number, everyone shouted "Happy New Year!" and couples began to kiss each other. He looked around, momentarily bewildered. Then remembered this was the usual tradition.

"Humans..."

He looked down at Hadley, who seemed to be showing conflicting emotions.

Hadley watched as all of the couples around her kissed one another. This was another tradition that she had never been able to take part in. When she was an adolescent she often spent her New Years celebrations with her family and after she hit adulthood she spent them alone. Usually curled up on the couch with a pizza. She bit down on her bottom lip, glancing at the couple next to them stuck in a lip lock. Of course, she thought, this was something I didn't think about.

She closed her eyes then and just let herself feel the happy energy around her. She wasn't going to let the couples around her kissing ruin this moment for her. She had just seen the ball fall in New York City. She also got to be there when all the relieved people realized that Y2K was a complete lie. It was a really great night and she wanted to remember it fondly.

Next year, Hadley. Next year you'll have someone to kiss on New Years.

Doctor Who Empty

The awkwardness that was settling in on the doctor was something he wasn't fond of in the least. He sighed, trying to think of how to release this negative energy. He looked around some more, trying to draw some inspiration from his surroundings. The inspiration he got was not what he had expected in the least.

When he heard Hadley sigh to herself, he took action. He grabbed the tops of her shoulders and made her face him. Without a second thought about it, he placed his lips on hers, letting all of his emotions flow through him and rush out into their kiss.

You couldn't exactly call it passionate. It still held a bit of awkward to it, but it was pleasant nonetheless. He pulled away from her as he heard the crowd begin to uproar in delight. He looked up on the giant screen and saw that they were on it, being shown to everyone in the square. Their faces quickly passed and the cameras were onto someone else. But he had still been shocked to see them up there in the first place.

"Well... Hm..."
